Responsibilities

Holly Hill Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited psychiatric hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. We provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient behavioral health and mental health services to children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide and assist in direct patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse (RN) as prescribed by the physician and the treatment team. The LPN will provide medical management and re-assessment of patients and will assist the RN with environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population. The LPN will supervise Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) as directed by the RN. Responsibilities also include documenting patient care and ensuring that data is accurate and that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates. The LPN will also work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Accurate administration of medication & treatments.
  • Monitor & record response & side-effects to medication & treatments.
  • Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Ability to assist with educating patients & families in medication & care management.
  • Ability to write clearly, legibly, accurately, & concisely in patient charts.
  • Skill in maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing

Experience:

  • One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults, adolescents and/or children preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current North Carolina State Licensed Practical Nurse License
  • Current North Carolina Driver's License
  • CPR Certification
  • CPI Certification
