Industrial Hygienist Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor

Are you an experienced industrial hygienist looking for that next step in your career and possess either your Lead Inspector or Lead Risk Assessor certifications? S&ME is seeking talented professionals with either of these certifications to join our environmental teams in Greensboro or Raleigh, NC.


If you have your Lead Inspector certification, you'll have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and mentorship to pave the way for you to become a Lead Risk Assessor. If you already have your Lead Risk Assessor certification, your expertise will quickly contribute to our projects throughout the state.


What You Will Do:

As an Industrial Hygienist/Lead Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of workers and the community by identifying and mitigating potential hazards in various settings. You will perform field and office work associated with industrial hygiene, under the supervision of other experienced EHS professionals, as needed, based on experience level.

  • Perform hazardous materials building and indoor air quality assessments
  • Conduct investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards from toxic substances, noise, and harmful physical agents.
  • Participate in special studies and monitoring programs to determine environmental conditions as well as collect samples to evaluate employee exposure to toxic substances.
  • Analyze and interpret data, preparation of tables, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Collaborate with project teams and clients to provide technical expertise and recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, assessments and recommendations.
  • Read building plans and prepare technical specifications for remediation of hazardous materials based upon the scheduled renovation/demolition with a working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulatory requirements.
  • Field Sampling Services to support environmental assessment activities, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, safety, engineering, or related sciences
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with industrial hygiene, safety, or environmental field testing
  • Ability and willingness to accommodate periodic travel with overnight assignments
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours, when necessary
  • NC Lead Inspector Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NC Lead Risk Assessor Certification
  • NC Asbestos Air Monitoring Accreditation
  • NC Asbestos Inspector Accreditation
  • Mold and IAQ sampling experience
  • Experience with Industrial Hygiene employee exposure monitoring
